Comment Policy — HealthAssistent AI
Last updated: September 2026
At HealthAssistent AI, we believe that meaningful conversation makes health information more useful, more accessible, and more human. Our articles, guides, and health tools exist to help people understand their bodies, their conditions, and their options — and the comment section beneath each piece of content is where that understanding often deepens. Readers ask thoughtful questions, share what has worked (or not worked) for them, point out things we got wrong, and add context that a single article could never capture on its own.
Because health is a sensitive and high-stakes topic, we take the comment section seriously. A single unchecked claim — "this cured my diabetes overnight" or "vaccines cause more harm than the diseases they prevent" — can spread quickly and cause real damage to someone who is scared, confused, or simply looking for answers late at night. At the same time, over-moderating a community kills the very thing that makes it valuable: honest, first-person experience and respectful disagreement.
This Comment Policy explains how we try to strike that balance. It applies to every comment left on HealthAssistent AI, whether on a blog post, a tool results page, a video embed, or any other page that allows public comments. By posting a comment on this site, you agree to follow these guidelines and to accept that HealthAssistent AI has full discretion to moderate, edit, hide, or remove content that does not comply with them.
Why We Have a Comment Policy
Unlike a private social media account, a health information website carries an added responsibility. People arrive at our articles searching for answers about symptoms, medications, mental health, chronic conditions, and family care decisions — often at moments when they feel vulnerable or under time pressure. A comment section attached to that kind of content is not just a place for casual chat; it becomes, in effect, part of the information environment the reader is relying on.
That is why our policy exists to do three things at once:
- Protect readers from harm. This means removing content that could lead someone to delay proper care, misuse a medication, ignore a dangerous symptom, or believe an unverified "cure."
- Protect the integrity of the discussion. Spam, impersonation, and bad-faith arguments crowd out genuine questions and experiences, and they erode trust in the whole platform.
- Protect individual users. This includes safeguarding personal information, preventing harassment, and ensuring that no one is mocked or attacked for asking a question or sharing a struggle.
We also want to be transparent that, like most publishers, we operate our site under the content and community standards required by our advertising and hosting partners, including Google AdSense's program policies. Those policies require that any page carrying ads — including the comment sections beneath them — be kept free of content that is dangerous, misleading, hateful, sexually explicit, or otherwise in violation of platform standards. Our internal policy below is written to comply with those external requirements while also reflecting what we believe is simply the right way to run a health-focused community.
What We Encourage
We want this to be a space where real people feel comfortable participating. Specifically, we welcome:
- Genuine questions about the topic of the post. If an article on managing seasonal allergies leaves you wondering about a specific symptom or treatment option, ask. Our editorial team and community regularly respond to on-topic questions.
- Personal experiences, shared responsibly. You are welcome to describe what a diagnosis, treatment, or recovery process has been like for you, as long as you are not presenting your individual experience as universal medical fact or advice for others to follow. Phrases like "in my case, this helped" are welcome; phrases like "you should definitely do this instead of what your doctor said" are not.
- Constructive, respectful disagreement. Health topics are often genuinely contested, and reasonable people can interpret the same study differently. We encourage readers to challenge claims, ask for sources, and offer alternative viewpoints, provided the tone stays civil.
- Error reporting. If you spot outdated statistics, a broken link, an unclear explanation, or a factual mistake, please tell us. Corrections from readers are one of the most valuable things a comment section provides, and we review every one.
- Encouragement and support for other readers. Many people come to health articles while anxious or scared. Comments that offer empathy, encouragement, or a "you're not alone" perspective are always welcome, provided they don't cross into specific medical guidance.
What Is Not Allowed
To keep the comment section safe, accurate, and useful, the following types of content are not permitted. Comments that fall into these categories will be removed, and in serious or repeated cases, the commenting account may be blocked.
1. Medical Advice, Diagnosis, or Treatment Recommendations
Comments must not attempt to diagnose a reader's condition, recommend a specific medication or dosage, tell another user to stop or start a treatment, or otherwise act as a substitute for a licensed healthcare professional. This rule applies even when the advice is well-intentioned. HealthAssistent AI's content, tools, and comment sections are provided for general informational and educational purposes only. Nothing on this site, including anything written by other users in the comments, should be treated as personalized medical advice. Always consult a qualified healthcare provider about your specific symptoms, conditions, and treatment options.
2. Spam and Promotional Content
We remove advertisements, affiliate links, unrelated product promotions, and repeated self-promotional posting, whether from individuals or businesses. This includes disguised promotion, such as a comment that appears to be a personal testimonial but is actually designed to drive traffic to a commercial product or service. Genuine mentions of a resource — for example, naming a support organization relevant to the article — are generally fine; repeated or off-topic promotion is not.
3. Abusive, Hateful, or Discriminatory Language
Personal attacks, harassment, name-calling, threats, hate speech, or discrimination based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, age, or any other characteristic will not be tolerated, whether directed at another commenter, an author, a public figure, or a group of people. Profanity intended to demean or intimidate is also prohibited. We understand that health discussions can be emotional, and disagreement is welcome — but it must never come at the expense of another person's dignity.
4. Health Misinformation
We remove comments that spread false, misleading, or unverified health claims, including unproven "miracle cures," conspiracy theories about medical institutions or public health measures, and claims that contradict well-established scientific and medical consensus. This is one of the more difficult areas to moderate, because science evolves and reasonable debate exists on genuinely unsettled questions. Our approach is to allow open discussion of uncertainty and differing clinical opinions, while removing claims that are demonstrably false, dangerous if followed, or designed to discourage people from seeking appropriate care.
5. Malicious or Unsafe Links
Links to phishing sites, malware, adult content, or otherwise unsafe destinations will be deleted immediately, and the associated account may be permanently blocked. Even links to legitimate-looking sites may be removed if they are irrelevant to the discussion or appear designed to manipulate search rankings.
6. Sharing Personal Identifiable Information
Please do not post your own or someone else's phone number, home address, full medical records, insurance details, or other sensitive personal information in a public comment. Not only can this compromise your privacy or someone else's, it can also expose you to unwanted contact, scams, or identity theft. If you need to reach us privately, please use our contact page instead of the public comment field.
7. Impersonation
Pretending to be a doctor, nurse, therapist, HealthAssistent AI staff member, or another real individual is not allowed, even as a joke. If you are a licensed healthcare professional and want to identify yourself as such, we ask that you make that clear in a way that cannot be mistaken for an official statement from our editorial team, and remember that even professional commentary here does not constitute a formal doctor-patient relationship.
How Moderation Works
All comments on HealthAssistent AI are subject to review, and depending on the volume of activity and the sensitivity of a given article, comments may be checked before they go live or reviewed shortly after publication. We use a combination of automated filtering and human review to catch content that violates this policy.
If a comment is removed, we generally do not send an individual notification explaining the decision, though we are happy to discuss moderation decisions if you reach out through our Contact Us page. HealthAssistent AI reserves the right to edit, hide, or delete any comment — in whole or in part — that we believe violates this policy or is otherwise inappropriate for the site, without prior notice and at our sole discretion.
We recognize that moderation is not a perfect science. Context matters, tone can be misread, and reasonable people can disagree about where a line should be drawn. Our moderators are trained to err on the side of protecting readers from potential harm, particularly around anything that could be mistaken for medical guidance, while giving genuine questions, criticism, and experiences the benefit of the doubt.
Repeated Violations
A single accidental misstep — for example, phrasing a comment in a way that sounds like advice when you meant to share a personal experience — is unlikely to result in a ban. However, a pattern of repeated violations, whether it's persistent promotional posting, continued hostility toward other users, or repeated attempts to share misinformation after being corrected, may result in a temporary suspension or a permanent block from commenting on this site.
A Note on Health Discussions and Uncertainty
We want to be candid about something: health science is not always settled, and reasonable experts sometimes disagree, particularly on emerging research, nutrition, mental health, and long-term outcomes. Our goal with this policy is not to shut down every claim that isn't 100% proven, but to prevent the comment section from becoming a source of harm — especially advice that could delay someone from seeking appropriate professional care, or claims that are contradicted by strong, well-established evidence (for example, claims that a serious infectious disease is not real, or that a well-studied vaccine causes a specific harm that has been repeatedly investigated and not found).
If you're ever unsure whether a comment you want to post crosses a line, a good rule of thumb is to ask yourself: "Would I be comfortable if a stranger, in a moment of fear or confusion about their health, acted directly on what I'm about to write?" If the honest answer is "I'd want them to talk to a doctor first," it's worth adding that context to your comment.
Disclaimer
Comments posted by users reflect their own personal views, experiences, and opinions. They are not fact-checked in the same way our editorial content is, and they are not endorsed, verified, or guaranteed to be accurate by HealthAssistent AI. We are not responsible for the accuracy, completeness, or safety of any medical or health-related claims made by users in the comments section. Nothing in the comments — regardless of who posted it or how confident it sounds — should be treated as a substitute for individualized advice from a licensed healthcare provider. Always consult a qualified medical professional about any health concern, diagnosis, or treatment decision.
Reporting a Violation
If you come across a comment that you believe violates this policy — whether it contains misinformation, harassment, spam, or anything else described above — please let us know. You can reach our moderation team through our Contact Us page. Please include a link to the specific comment or page where possible, along with a short description of the issue, so we can review and act on it quickly.
We review every report we receive. Reporting a comment does not guarantee it will be removed — our team makes the final judgment based on this policy — but every report helps us keep this a safer and more useful place for the people who come here looking for real answers.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Comment Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our editorial standards, legal requirements, or the policies of our advertising and hosting partners. The version posted on this page is always the current and effective policy. We encourage regular commenters to check back periodically for updates.
Thank you for being part of the HealthAssistent AI community, and for helping us keep it a space where people can ask honest questions and get thoughtful, respectful, and safe responses.
